SERVICES THURSDAY IN LE MARS
Edward H. Strathman, 85, of Remsen, died Monday, July 10, 1995, at the Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen.
Edward Henry Strathman was born March 24, 1910, at Hartington, Neb., the son of Henry and Margaret (Lentz) Strathman. He was raised in the Hartington area and graduated from Hartington High School. On Oct. 24, 1933, he married Irma Howder at Chamberlin, S.D.
He worked for many years in the creamery and produce business in South Dakota and Iowa. The couple later operated the Corner Café in Brunsville for many years. He later managed the Eastridge Terrace Apartments in LeMars.
Survivors include his wife, Irma of Happy Siesta Nursing Home; three daughters, Carol Gengler and her husband Dick of Remsen, Connie Frankhauser and her husband, Rich, of Cedar Falls, Julie Strathman and her fiancée, Charles Thatcher, of Vermillion, S.D.; one son, Curt Strathman and his wife, Priscilla, of LeMars; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars with the Rev. Gordon Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) with the family present 6 to 7 p.m. to greet friends at the funeral home.
