HARRY F. STIEF, SR.

Harry Fredrick Stief Sr., 67, LeMars, died unexpectedly at his home, 234 Second Ave. NW, Thursday after an apparent heart attack. He had been ailing for several weeks.

Mr. Stief, the son of the late Bernard and Meta Miller Stief, was born April 30, 1901, at Aurelia. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and had recently been employed at Sioux Tool Co. He farmed in South Dakota returning to Sioux county in 1936 where he farmed until moving to Plymouth county in 1939. He retired to LeMars in 1954.

His marriage to Elsie Margaret Dannenbring took place Feb. 2, 1920, at Ireton.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's American Lutheran Church in LeMars. Rev. Arnold Imbrock will officiate and burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars, under the direction of the Mauer funeral home in LeMars. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Friday.

Survivors are his wife, Margaret, LeMars; a son, Rev. Harry Stief, Anaheim, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Jean Dunn, rural Merrill; a sister, Mrs. Edna Abbey, Hawarden; seven half-sisters, Esther and Florence Soost, Sioux Falls; Mrs. Mable Anderson, Hawarden; Mrs. Emma Long, Mrs. Alvina Mendel, Mrs. Bertha Reich, all of Montana; and Mrs. Minnie Munson, St. Paul; and four grandchildren, Rebekah and Mark Steif and Jayne and Jay Dunn.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a member of St. John American Lutheran Church.
