KAREN SHERLOCK

MERRILL --- Karen VanderKooi Sherlock, 40, of rural Merrill, died Sunday, June 4, 1995, of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle accident Sunday near LeMars.

Karen Jean VanderKooi was born Sept. 14, 1954, in LeMars, the daughter of Fred and Carroll (Fritsch) VanderKooi.

She was raised in both Wisconsin and rural Hinton. She graduated from Hinton Community High School in 1973.

On Feb. 10, 1973, she married Burton Mason of North Sioux City, S.D. She married Steven Sherlock, Dec. 27, 1979. At the time of her death, she was residing at rural Hinton with a special friend, Darrell.

Survivors include two sons and two daughters, Chad William Mason, of North Sioux City, S.D., Jennifer Kay Sherlock, Jackie Ann Sherlock, and Joseph Dylon VanderKooi; a granddaughter, Natasha Mason; her parents, Fred and Carroll VanderKooi of Hinton; one sister, Kay Marks and her husband, Richard, of Hinton; a grandmother, Katherine Boulton of Hinton; and nieces and nephews, Timothy VanderKooi, Robert Potter Jr., Amanda Potter, and Darin Marks.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Elmer and Lucille Fritsch; and by paternal grandfathers, Pete VanderKooi Sr. and William Boulton.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in LeMars with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday from 8 a.m. to service time.
