GLEN H. SIPLE

Glen H. Siple, 82, LeMars, retired owner and operator of the Pantry Café, died Saturday (Nov. 4, 1989) at Plymouth Manor Care Center after an extended illness.

Funeral was at 1 p.m. today (Monday) at Grace Lutheran Church in LeMars with Rev. Larry Fett officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens near LeMars under the direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.

Friends called after 2 p.m Sunday with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 24, 1907, at Churchville, Va., to John Preston Siple and Carrie Hammer Siple. He came to Iowa in 1925, and had been a longtime LeMars resident. He owned and operated the Pantry Café for many years before his retirement.

Valira Bierbower and Mr. Siple were married March 4, 1941, at Hartley. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in LeMars.

Survivors are his wife, Valira Siple, LeMars; a son, Jim Siple, LeMars; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Anna Lee) Plendl, Kingsley; six grandchildren, Rob, Randy, Ricci and Rochelle Plendl of Kingsley, and Amy and Heidi Siple, LeMars; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Nathan Plendl, Kingsley; a brother, Marshall Siple of LeMars and an uncle Jay Hammer of Milford.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son in infancy.
