Mrs. Hazel Manning

Mrs. Hazel Manning, 85, a Plymouth county native and lifelong resident, died Friday (Aug. 25, 1978) at Floyd Valley hospital after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Manning is remembered in Democratic circles as Plymouth county co-chairman with the late Dr. R. J. Joynt for many years.

The former Hazel Elinor Sheehan, she was born April 18, 1903, in Marion township to Mr. and Mrs. John Sheehan. She lived at rural LeMars and has lived in LeMars since 1935.

Her marriage to Raymond Manning took place Feb. 5, 1918, in Sioux City. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic church in LeMars. Rev. George McFadden officiated and burial was in Calvary cemetery under direction of the Luedtke funeral home.

The parish and CDA rosaries were recited Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Survivors are a daughter, Evelyn Manning, Washington, D.C.; two sons, John of Arlington, Va., and Gerald of LeMars; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray, in 1963; a daughter Eileen Cope; five brothers, Gregory, Joseph, John, James and Thomas and by three sisters, Mathilda Considine, Margaret Watry and Mayme Davis.
