FAY SHEARER
Fay Shearer, 93, Sunrise Retirement Community Center, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 1995, at the residence after a long illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christy, Smith & Hockenberry Morningside Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Mueller of Morningside Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery at Adaville, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Shearer was born May 13, 1902, at Chatsworth, Iowa, the son of Frederick and Rose Shearer. He graduated from Westfield (Iowa) High School in 1920 and moved to Sioux City the same year. He married Esther Anderson of rural Akron, Iowa, June 9, 1926. She died Jan. 5, 1962. He married Beulah Dodge Arneson April 6, 1963. She died May 14, 1983, in Mesa, Ariz. He moved to Mesa in 1968 and returned to Sioux City in 1983. He worked for Swift & Co. for 46 years in Industrial Relations, retiring May 1, 1964.
Mr. Shearer was a member of Landmark Lodge 103 since 1926.
Survivors include two sons, Wendell, of Sioux City, and Marvin and his wife, June, of Sterling, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Lorna Zellmer of Sioux City; a stepson, Gilbert Arneson of Utah; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 10 stepgrandchildren and 12 step great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Thomas.
