GUS OKERSTROM
DIES AT HOSPITAL
PLAN RITES SATURDAY

John August (Gus) Okerstrom, 73, died Wednesday at Sacred Heart Hospital following an illness of several years. He had been a hospital patient the last 22 months.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John American Lutheran Church, with Rev. L. L. Belk and Rev. Robert Floy officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens under the direction of Mauer’s funeral home.

Mr. Okerstom was born Dec. 23, 1892, in Wallsta, Sweden. He came to the United States in November 1912, and to the Cleghorn vicinity, later moving to LeMars where he had lived since.

His marriage to Gwendolyn Rees took place Feb. 16, 1915, in Dakota City, Neb. He was the son of the late Andres and Karin Anderson Okerstrom.

Survivors are his wife, Gwendolyn, LeMars; a sister, Mrs. Anna Erickson in Sweden, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Louis and Anton; two sisters, Mrs. Oscar Carlson, Cherokee, and Mrs. Karin Johnsson.

Mr. Okerstrom was a member of St. John American Lutheran church and Eagles lodge.
