HERMAN W. PECKS

Herman W. Pecks, 84, of LeMars, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1996, at The Abbey in LeMars.

Herman William Pecks was born on the family farm west of Brunsville on Nov. 15, 1911, the son of Gert and Dora (Weber) Pecks. He attended country school near Brunsville and later worked on several farms in Plymouth County.

On Aug. 13, 1940, he married Edna Luschen in LeMars. The couple moved to LeMars in 1957 when he went to work for Plymouth County as a crane operator for the road and bridge crews. He retired from employment with Plymouth County in 1973. He had resided at The Abbey in LeMars since April 1994.

Survivors include his wire; two daughters and sons-in-law, Verjean and Walter Kleinhesselink and Linda and Max Jr. Utesch, all of LeMars; a sister and brother-in-law, Elvie and Roy Plueger of Brookings, S.D.; five grandchildren; Jodi Kleinhesselink, Jill Nall, Max Utesch IV, Brett Utesch, Brook Utesch, and a great granddaughter, Tara Kleinhesselink.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Fred Pecks; a sister, Evelyn Pecks; and a grandson, Troy Utesch.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, with the family present to greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Max Utesch IV, Brett Utesch, Brook Utesch, Jodi Kleinhesselink, Jill Nall, and Tara Kleinhesselink.
