Huel H. Paulin, 45 S. Lynn Drive, LeMars, died Saturday morning at Floyd Valley Hospital and a Sioux City woman remains hospitalized in Sioux City following a two car accident on the southwest edge of LeMars.
The LeMars police department said Mr. Paulin, 71, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 30, 1975) as a result of injuries he suffered in the collision of his car and a car driven by Lowell Haase, 55, Sioux City.
The accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Friday at the start of the Labor Day weekend.
Mr. Haase’s wife, Wilma Mae, 47, a passenger in the Haase car, was listed in stable condition Saturday night in the intensive care unit at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
Mr. Haase was treated and dismissed from Floyd Valley Hospital.
Officers said Mr. Paulin was making a left turn onto 12th St. when his car was in collision with the northbound car driven by Mr. Haase.
The Haase car left 64 feet of skid marks before the two cars collided.
Funeral services for Mr. Paulin were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Calvary United Methodist Church. Rev. Tom Balm officiated. Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery with Mauer funeral home in charge.
Mr. Paulin was born July 20, 1904, at Washta. He married Bonita Muller, June 18, 1940, in LeMars. The couple farmed in the LeMars area and moved to LeMars in 1963.
Mr. Paulin was employed as a bookkeeper and office manager for Plymouth Plumbing and Heating until retiring several years ago.
Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. David (Sandra) Nebrink, Spring Valley, Minn.; a son, David Paulin, Austin, Tex.; three grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Carl (Vera) Larson, Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. Ever__ ( ___ ) Carver, Lubbock, Tex., and Mrs. John (Dorothy) Bourne, Omaha.
