John Van Pelt

John Van Pelt, 72, of Alton, died Monday (April 4, 1977) in the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the United Presbyterian church at Alton. The Rev. Raymond Weiss of Orange City will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens near LeMars, with the Van Etten-Oolman funeral home in charge.

Mr. Van Pelt was born Aug. 18, 1904, at Orange City. He married Grace Heemstra Feb. 16, 1928 at Orange City. They farmed in the area, moved to Alton in 1962 where he operated a portable feed mill.

Survivors are his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Betty Hallstrom of Greeley, Colo.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn and Mrs. Esther Cullen, both of Glendale, Calif.
