Louis Mohning Dies
After Year’s Illness At His Home

Funeral services for Louis Henry Mohning, 79, of LeMars, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. John American Lutheran Church.

Rev. L. L. Belk and Rev. Robert Floy will officiate and burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens near LeMars under the direction of the Mauer funeral home.

Mr. Mohning died early Monday at his home after an illness of about one year.

He was born June 19, 1885, in Marion township in Plymouth County. He lived on a farm in that township until retiring in October 1960, when he moved to LeMars.

His marriage to Wilhelmine Wiebke took place June 12, 1918, at Cook, Neb. His parents were the late Henry Mohning and Anna Schulte Mohning.

A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors are the widow; five sons, Arnold, Merlin and Henry, all of LeMars, Louis of Remsen and Raymond of Mitchell, S.D.; four daughters, Mrs. Fred (Alverna) Lowery, San Jose, Calif.; Mrs. Walter (Esther) Sjobakken, Stanton, Calif.; Norma Mohning and Mrs. Ronald (Helen) Utesch, both of LeMars. There are 33 grandchildren.

He was a member of St. John American Lutheran Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, two sisters and an infant daughter.
