FRANCES M. OETKEN
Mrs. Herman (Frances) Oetken, 63, LeMars lifelong Plymouth County resident, died Wednesday, June 27, 1990, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars, after an extended illness.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's American Lutheran Church in LeMars. The Rev. David Kramer officiated. Burial was in Resthaven Memory Gardens in LeMars, under the direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, LeMars.
The former Frances M. Kloster was born May 14, 1927, in LeMars to Jens Andrew and Thor Nielsen Kloster. She graduated in 1945 from the LeMars High School. She married Herman B. Oetken June 3, 1946, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Oyens.
Mrs. Oetken had been employed for 15 years as chief deputy clerk of court at the Plymouth County Courthouse in LeMars. She was an active member of St. John's American Lutheran Church in LeMars and of the women of E.L.C.A. and the Gideon auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Herman, of LeMars; two daughters, Mrs. Merle (Kaye) Schipper of LeMars and Mrs. Roger (Joan) Rothwell of Sioux City; two sons, Michael of New Ulm, Minn., and Steven of Omaha; four grandchildren; two brothers, Norman Kloster of Ruthven, and Delmar Kloster of Longmont, Colo., and a sister, Edna Kloster, of LeMars.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
