IDA A.P. MILLER

Ida A.P. Miller, 85, of LeMars, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in LeMars.

Ida Anna Paulina Peters was born Dec. 3, 1913, at Badger, Minn., the daughter of Reinhard and Johanna (Reesen) Peters. As a young girl, her family moved to a farm near Akron. Ida helped on the family farm and attended country school near Akron. On Nov. 27, 1935, she married Charles E. Miller at Elk Point, S.D. In their early years of marriage they lived on farms near LeMars. Ida and Charles moved to LeMars in 1940 and operated Miller’s Lunch from 1943 to 1990. Miller’s Lunch was a favorite lunch stop for truckers and everyone who liked good hamburgers. Mr. Miller died Nov. 8, 1990.[correction: his date of death is Nov. 8, 1987]

Ida was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A., and enjoyed sewing in her spare time.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Leonard Kruse of LeMars; two grandchildren, Tim Kruse and his wife, Sherry, of Merrill, and Linda Oxley and her husband, Mike, of Des Moines; a great grandson, Timothy James (T.J.) Kruse of Merrill; a brother, Woodrow Peters of LeMars; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Fred, Henry, Richard, John, and Edwin Peters; two sisters Mrs. Fred (Lucy) Wiegers and Mrs. John (Clara) Gerdes; and a great-granddaughter, Lynnae Marie Kruse.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A., in LeMars with the Rev. Jean Morse officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Elmer Varenhorst, Dan Varenhorst, Elmer Reinholdt, Harlan Klingbeil, Charles Kruse, and Dale Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Kruse, Mike Oxley, Earl Buss and Robert Plueger.
