PERCY MERRITT
Percy R. Merritt, 84, longtime LeMars resident and retired Plymouth County employee, died Thursday (Jan. 22, 1987) at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars after a brief illness.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. George’s Episcopal Church in LeMars. Rev. David Titus will officiate and burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, LeMars, under the direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Merritt was born Oct. 20, 1902, at Easton, England, to Charles William and Harriet Rimmington Merritt. He came to the United States with his parents in 1912 at the age of 10.
His marriage to Blanche Harrison took place July 2, 1924, in LeMars. She preceded him in death. His marriage to Rozella Farmer Hayden took place July 2, 1949, at Vermillion.
He was employed at the Plymouth County Engineer’s office until his retirement.
