LE MARS, Iowa -- Alice M. May, 88, of Le Mars died Thursday, March 7, 2002, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Landsness of St. John's Lutheran Church E.L.C.A. officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present at 7 to 8 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Alice N. Schoen was born June 22, 1913, on the family farm west of Brunsville, Iowa, to Henry and Katherine (Heien) Schoen. During her childhood years, the family lived on farms near Ruble and Craig, Iowa. Alice began her education in the Ruble School and completed her education at Craig.

Alice was united in marriage to Louis May on Nov. 16, 1939. Alice and Louis farmed for many years near Union Consolidated School. Louis and Alice retired and moved to Le Mars. Louis passed away in 1989. Alice had made her home at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center since November 1991. While living at Brentwood, Alice kept active in Brentwood activities and programs. She enjoyed handwork and crocheting.

Survivors include two daughters, Lois and her husband, Dave Ohlendorf, and Wilma May, all of Le Mars; a brother, Marvin Schoen of Merrill, Iowa; two grandchildren, Eric Ohlendorf and his wife, Jamie, and Katie Ohlendorf; two stepgrandchildren and their husbands, Teresa and Dave Czarnecki and Lisa and Jeff Terwilleger; five great-stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Alice was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Schoen.
