WILHELMINE M. LUDWIGS

Wilhelmine M. Ludwigs, 79, of LeMars, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 1997, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.

Wilhelmine M. Gerrietts was born Jan. 30, 1918, on the family farm near Glasford, Ill., the daughter of Conrad and Mary (Renken) Gerrietts. As a young child, she moved to a farm in the Hawarden area with her family. She received her education in a country school near Hawarden. On Nov. 6, 1941, she married Clarence Ludwigs at Hawarden. The couple farmed near Hawarden and west of LeMars for many years.

In 1953 the family moved to LeMars. Mrs. Ludwigs worked at Truck Haven for 30 years. For the past 11 years she has made her home at the Floyd Valley Apartments.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, LeMars, where she attended circle. She was a member of LeMars Senior Citizens Center.

She will be remembered for her many pies that she made during her career with Truck Haven. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards.

Survivors include two children, Marcene Taylor of Omaha, Neb., and Merlin and his wife, Norma Ludwigs, of Cortez, Colo.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1991; a brother, Lowell Gerrietts and a sister, Dorothy Ann Hopp.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at St. John’s Lutheran Church, ELCA, in LeMars with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars. Visitation was after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
