CLARENCE L. LUDWIGS

Clarence L. Ludwigs, 73, longtime LeMars resident, died Friday (May 31, 1991) at a Sioux City hospital.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in LeMars with Rev. Larry Fett officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars.

Visitation was after 2 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.

Mr. Ludwigs was born March 31, 1918, in Chatsworth, Iowa, son of Gerd and Marie (Borchers) Ludwigs. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Chatsworth. He held many offices in the church and was active in bowling and Little League.

He married Wilhelmine Gerrietts Nov. 6, 1941, at Chatsworth.

He married Doris Wright May 26, 1973, at Merrill.

Mr. Ludwigs was a farmer until 1954, then a VanderMeer Bakery employee after moving to LeMars that year.

Survivors are his wife, Doris, of LeMars; a son, Merlin of Cortez, Colo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Marcene and Roy Taylor of Omaha; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-children; 15 stepgrandchildren; and 17 step great-grandchildren. Also two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Ruth of Chatsworth, and Gerd and Bernice of Lancaster, Calif.; four sisters, Etta Kluver of Starbuck, Minn., Minnie Huebner and Amanda Bultman, both of Akron, and Gertrude (Mrs. Stanley) Fluck of New London, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Henry, and a sister, Anna, in infancy.
