WILLIAM LAHR

William Lahr, 83, LeMars, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1993, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, Sioux City.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in LeMars with Rev. Robert Grupp officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mr. Lahr was born Aug. 28, 1909, in Worthington, Iowa, to Theodore and Susan (Besler) Lahr. He married Lillian Baack on Oct. 8, 1932, in Elk Point, S.D. She died August 4 [her obit says Aug. 9] 1973. The couple farmed for many years until retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ, LeMars.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie and her husband, Jim Wiggerman, Fort Dodge, and Carole and her husband, Arnold DeJong, Sioux City; three sisters, Marcella Soppe, Waterloo, Anny Jayko, Chicago and Cecilia Sedwick, Chicago; one brother, Val Lahr and his wife, Ann, Chicago; five grandchildren, Theresa Olson, Lynne Aldana, Mary Gormally, Robert DeJong, and Suzanne Bonnsteller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother and a sister.
