CLAYTON KOTH

Clayton G. Koth, 63, a LeMars resident the last 31 years, died Tuesday (Feb. 11, 1977) at Floyd Valley Hospital after a short illness. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance last weekend after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Mr. Koth retired last December after serving since 1961 as director of estate planning and special gifts at Westmar College.

Prior to that time he had been district manager of E. K. Baxter Co. from 1946 to 1961.

Born Sept. 26, 1913, at Jamestown, N.D., to Gustav and Margaret Leetz Koth, he had lived at Slayton, Minn., before coming to LeMars.

His marriage to Eva May took place July 6, 1935, at Jamestown.

He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. He had a ham radio hobby and was rewarded the call letters KOTH after having been active for over 40 years. He carried a first class operator’s license.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary United Methodist Church with Rev. Denton Erickson officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens under the direction of the Mauer funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Eva, LeMars; two sons, Robert of Chicago; Clayton Eugene Koth of Chariton; a daughter, Gwendolyn Kay Mead, Hector, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; a brother Kenneth Koth, Oregon City, Ore.; four sisters, Gertrude Heney, Jamestown, N.D.; Esther Koth, Longview, Wash.; Marion Koth, Lake Oswego, Ore.; and Decotah Duftan, Longview, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a daughter, Joan Markley, in 1976.
