Dale R. Kolker, 67, a LeMars native and lifelong resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 1997, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City following a brief illness.

Mr. Kolker was born July 27, 1930, in LeMars, the son of Roy and Meta (Schumacher) Kolker. He married Gladys L. Huls on Feb. 12, 1953, in Preston Township. The couple resided in LeMars their entire life. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and earned the Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Emblem, the United Nations Service Medal and two Korean Service Medals. He was employed at Wells Blue Bunny in LeMars for 38 years.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church ELCA in LeMars.

Dale was an avid outdoorsman, skilled in trapping, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Linda Sue Ruden of Sioux City and Janice Gienger and her husband, Greg, of Omaha, Neb.; five sons, Roger Kolker and his wife, Andrea, of Lincoln, Neb., Gary Kolker and his wife, Susan, of LeMars, Myron Kolker of LeMars, Arlan Kolker and his wife, Susan, of Lawton, and Paul Kolker and his wife, Raquel, of LeMars; 11 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Kolker and his wife, Eileen, of Merrill, and Eugene Kolker of Sioux City; and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Kolker, of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Darrell, Stanley and Bruce; and a granddaughter, Crystal Kolker.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church ELCA in LeMars with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars, with military honors conducted at the graveside by the American Legion, Wasmer Post 241. Friends may call anytime after 2 p.m. Friday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in LeMars. The family will be present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
