VIOLA W. LANG

LE MARS, Iowa --- Viola Wilhelmina Lang, 87, of LeMars, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton with the Rev. David Kottlowski officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars, Iowa.

Mrs. Lang was born March 13, 1913, on the family farm in Lincoln township, rural Plymouth County, the daughter of Charles and Frieda (Tobolt) Schoenrock. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. She grew up in Lincoln Township and attended country school near her home. She graduated from LeMars Central High School and later taught country school in Lincoln Township. She married Edward Lang on Sept. 21, 1938, in Trinity Lutheran Church. They farmed in Stanton Township until 1978 when they retired and moved to LeMars. He died in 1993.

She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Aid.

She enjoyed china painting, crocheting and making crafts.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice and her husband, Richard Blatt of Chicago, and Cynthia and her husband, Dean Gages of Aurora, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Mildred Lang of LeMars; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Lois Lang of Hinton; four grandchildren, Cheryl Patrick, Steven Blatt, Andrew Grages, and Joshua Grages; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter and Eldon Schoenrock and Lester Schoenrock in infancy; and two sisters, Louise Lang and Leona Lahrs.

Pallbearers will be Warren Lahrs, Lee Lambert, Tim Lang, Clifford Lang, Kendall Lang and Phillip Schoenrock.
