MERRILL, Iowa -- Alvin L. Gagnon, 58, of Merrill died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with Eudell Colmen officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Merrill, with military rites conducted by the 185th Air National Guard. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Gagnon was born Oct. 21, 1943, in Sioux City, to Frederick and Lelia (Brooks) Gagnon. He attended Sioux City schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He married the former Connie Newell on Dec. 17, 1965, in Sioux City. He was employed as a small parts grinder at Sioux Tools for 32 years.
He was a member of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union AFL-CIO 1426.
Survivors include his wife, Connie; his father, Frederick; four sons, Bill Gagnon and his wife, Lacey of Le Mars, Iowa, Allan Gagnon and Anita Sailer of Phoenix, Ariz., Cory Gagnon and his wife, Wanda of Merrill, and Brad Gagnon and his fiancee, Amber Thoms of Le Mars; a daughter-in-law, Karen Gagnon of Merrill; three brothers, Frederick E. Gagnon and his wife, Renee of Sioux City, Harold Gagnon and his wife, Julie of Sioux City, and Gary Gagnon of Edenberg, Texas; six sisters, Renee Schanke and Tonya Le Clair and her husband, Ed, all of Garland, Texas, Heather Tollefsbol and her husband, Matt of Plano, Texas, Judy Hinds and her husband, Ken, Lois Barnes and her husband, Marv, and Ruth Hofling, all of Sioux City; and his grandchildren, Samantha, Kelsie, Cody, Ashley, Madisyn and Morgyn Gagnon.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Campbell, Joe Newell, Don Newell, Randy Best, Russ Becke and Craig Glenn.
