REMSEN, Iowa -- Catherine "Tene" Frank, 94, of Remsen died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a St. Mary's Guild and Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 3 p.m. and vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Tene was born Sept. 16, 1910, in rural Dell Rapids, S.D., the daughter of James and Katherine (Flanagan) Fitzgerald. She was raised in the Dell Rapids area, where she received her education, graduating in 1926. She then attended Teachers College in Madison, S.D.

On Oct. 17, 1928, she married Lester Frank in Huntimer, S.D. They made their home near Remsen, where they farmed for several years and in 1943, they moved into Remsen. She was an Avon representative from 1938 to 1954. Lester died April 29, 1995. She had been a resident of Happy Siesta Health Care Center since March 16, 1995.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Guild and Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include two daughters, Delia of Remsen and Alice "Kelly" Ferdig of Sioux City; a son-in-law and his wife, Francis and Bonnie Kestel of New Hampton, Iowa; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Wiebersch of San Leandro, Calif.; and a brother-in-law, Don Koenders of Brookings, S.D.

She was preceded in death by a son, Raymond; a daughter, Mary Kestel; a son-in-law, Milo Homan; a grandson, Raymond Mathison; three brothers, Gerald, John and Bert Fitzgerald; and three sisters, Marcella Plimpton, Agnes Birnbaum and Monica Koenders.
