Adam Seel, 59, a lifetime resident of this community died at his farm home, south east of Marcus, Thursday, January 10th, 1957. Although Mr. Seel has been afflicted with heart trouble for several years, his death came suddenly a few minutes after noon while sitting in the living room of his home.
Adam Phillip Seel was born in Henry Township, Plymouth county, IA., October 12, 1897, the youngest son of Adam and May Immel Seel.
He was baptized in infancy at Trinity Lutheran church, later being confirmed in the Lutheran faith at an early age, remaining a life long member of his church.
On June 5th, 1924, he was married to Agnes Thias of Monona, IA. This union was blessed with three children, Marlin, Martin, and Mrs. Nels (Erna) Nelson of Remsen.
The first two years they lived on the home farm, then moving to Cherokee county and the remaining years were spent at the present farm home.
After one and a half years of failing health, he passed away quietly on January 10th, 1957, at the age of 59 years, 2 months, 28 days.
Survivors are the wife Agnes, a daughter, Mrs. Nels (Erna) Nelson of Remsen, Marvin of Marcus, Marlin of Remsen, ten grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Ella Maas, Remsen, Mrs. Mary Kappler, Remsen, Mrs. George (Laura) Letsche, Mrs. Elizabeth Wilka, Sioux Falls, S.D., three brothers, John, Fred, and Albert of Remsen. Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister (Sophia), Mrs. Henry Hanno, one brother, George, and one grandson, Gary Nelson.
Pallbearers were Walter Spindler, Lester Bockhoff, Maurice Manifold, August Nitzschke, Joseph Ritchel, and Ray Schut.
Attending services were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Elgin, Adair, Iowa, Mr. Wm. Immel, Adair, Iowa, Mr. Floyd Immel, Exira, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. George Letsche and Melvin, Hartford, S.D., Mr. Lawrence Letsche and Loren, Hartford, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Letsche and Gerald, Humboldt, S. Dakota.
