Pamela A. Heien, 49, of Craig, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at The Abbey in LeMars.

Pamela Ann Heien was born Sept. 25, 1953, at Portsmouth, Va., the daughter of Kenneth G. and Violet C. (Olson) Heien. Pamela graduated from LeMars Community High School in 1972. In August 1988, Pamela graduated from nursing classes at Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City. She had worked for several years as a nursing caregiver.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church E.L.C.A. and had taught Sunday School for several years. She enjoyed babysitting her nieces and nephews, ceramics, baking and coking.

Survivors include her father and step mother, Kenneth and Inez Heien of LeMars; three sisters and brothers-in-law, June and Melvin Muth, of LeMars, Judy and Doug Schulz of LeMars, Peggy and Myron Joens of Storm Lake; two brothers, Richard and Steve Heien, both of LeMars; nine step-brothers and sisters, Carol Roberts of Creston, Charles Smith of South Sioux City, Neb., Ralph and Margo Smith of South Sioux City, Neb., Ronnie and Pam Smith of South Sioux City, Neb., Larry and Patti Smith of Sioux City, Robert and Kelli Smith of Sioux City, Deb Moffatt of LeMars, Alice Banks of LeMars, and Audrey Navrude of Marcus; and several nieces and nephews.

Pam was preceded in death by her mother, Violet Heien, and a sister, Laura Heien.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in LeMars with the Rev. Gary Landsness of St. John's Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A.

Pam’s wishes were to have her body gifted to the University of South Dakota Medical School. Visitations will be from 9 a.m. until service time Friday morning at the funeral home.
