JULIUS A. HOP
Julius A. Hop, 74, longtime LeMars resident, died Saturday (March 9, 1991) at Marian Health Center in Sioux City. He was a 36-year employee and supervisor of Central Telephone Company, now retired.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Calvin Christian Reformed Church in LeMars with Rev. Edward Visser officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 7-8 p.m. at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.
Mr. Hop was born June 8, 1916, in Maurice, the son of Jake and Elizabeth Veenstra Hop. He married Margaret L. Rozeboom Oct. 31, 1944, in Sioux Center. He served in the army 34th Infantry Division Signal Company for 4 ½ years, with overseas duty in North Ireland, Africa and Italy.
He began his career with Central Telephone Company in 1945, and was employed for 36 years, retiring as district business office supervisor.
Mr. Hop was a member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church and Wasmer Post 241, American Legion of LeMars.
Survivors are his wife; four sons and their wives, Robert and Lyn of Alexandria, Minn.; Dave and Jean of Omaha; Jim and Amy of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and Tim and Lexann of LeMars; eight grandchildren; a sister, Artie Vegter of Los Angeles; and two brothers, Howard and Don, both of Orange City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
