ASPINWALL --- Dorothy E. Holloway, 81, of Aspinwall, Iowa, died Sunday, June 28, 1998, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Neb.

Dorothy Emeilen Utecht was born Nov. 19, 1916, on the family farm in Lincoln Township, rural Plymouth County, the daughter of Carl H. and Sophia M. (Lau) Utecht. She received her education in a country school in Plymouth County. On July 1, 1939, she married Joseph J. Holloway in Sioux City.

The couple had farmed in Plymouth County for several years and then moved to a farm near Atlantic. In 1968 the family moved to a farm near the Corning and Beford areas. Mr. Holloway died Jan. 16, 1972. Dorothy continued to live in the Beford area until 1990 when she moved to Aspinwall.

She enjoyed family vacations and attending yearly family reunions.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Cindy Holloway of Aspinwall, and Ervin and Velvet Holloway of Harlan; a sister, Helen Bahney of Onyx, Calif.; six grandchildren, Shawn, Pamela, Deborah, Tina, Crystal and Daniel; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Oris, Walter and Carl Utecht; and two sisters, Loraine Cook and LaVon Laird.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars with the Rev. Doug Dowling officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, rural LeMars.
