MARCUS, Iowa -- Ruby A. Gross, 83, of Marcus died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus.
Memorial services will be 3 p.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church in Marcus, with the Rev. Roger Henry officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. today in Kingsley Cemetery, Kingsley, Iowa. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Earnest-Rohde Funeral Home in Marcus.
Ruby was born Oct. 9, 1919, at Pierson, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Minnie (Meyer) Dragoo. She graduated from Grand Meadow High School. After high school she worked as a certified dental assistant for Dr. Wiese for 15 years.
She married Claude Gross on Jan. 31, 1941. After their marriage, they farmed in the Kingsley area for several years before starting the Gross Implement Dealership in Marcus. She was the secretary/bookkeeper for the business before retiring. Her husband, Claude died Dec. 12, 1996. Ruby continued to live in Marcus until entering Heartland Care Center in 1998.
Ruby was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, U.M.W., the Hobby Club and enjoyed being with family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Lynn A. Gross and his wife, Diane of Sioux City, and Jeff D. Gross and his wife, Rozanne of Marcus; three grandchildren, Justin Gross, Jennifer Gross and Jared Gross; and a sister, Erma Severson of Sioux City.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Silvia Richards; and a brother, Orlan Dragoo.
