LAURA H. DIERCKSEN

LE MARS, Iowa --- Laura Henrietta Diercksen, 94, of LeMars, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in LeMars with the Rev. Lynn Potter officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mrs. Diercksen was born Sept. 16, 1904, in Cherokee County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Viola (Sturges) Peters. She was raised on a farm and attend country school.

She married John Diercksen on Jan. 6, 1928, near Hinton, Iowa. The couple farmed near LeMars until 1944. In 1947, they moved to a farm near Hawarden, Iowa, where they farmed until returning in 1972. They then moved into LeMars. He died in 1988.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and enjoyed cooking, gardening and flowers.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruby Marshall, of Hawarden; four grandchildren, Jim, Reed and Bert Marshall and Barb DeVries; nine great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Mabel Peters of Guttenberg, Iowa and Mildred Peters of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Marvin, in infancy; a granddaughter, Gloria Jean Marshall; a great-grandson; five brothers, Henry, Herman, John, Richard and Ralph Peters; three sisters, Viola Muecke, Louise Cox and Olive Sanow; and a son-in-law, Robert Marshall.

Pallbearers will be Bill, Luke, Jon, Jeremy, and Clayton Marshall and Matt Hedden.
