RANDALL “RANDY” DETLOFF

Randall Ray “Randy” Detloff, 48, of LeMars, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, at Marian Health Center in Sioux City.

Randall Ray Detloff was born April 16, 1950, in LeMars, the son of Alfred and Lois (Mitchell) Detloff. Randy was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in LeMars. He graduated from LeMars High School in 1968. He married Paulette Beeck on Oct. 14, 1967, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Randall and Pauletter were blessed with two children, Lonnie and Stacey.

For the last 14 years Randy has worked for the City of LeMars with the Street Department. He had recently promoted to Machine Operator.

Randy was an avid golfer and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his children and his dog, Max. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church E.L.C.A. in LeMars.

Survivors included his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Marla Detloff of LeMars; a daughter, Stacey Detloff of LeMars; four grandchildren, Brady, Allyson, Nicholas and Kyle; his step-mother, Jean Detloff of LeMars; his father-in-law, Paul Beeck of LeMars; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron and Karen Detloff of LeMars, Richard and Nancy Degner of Ankeny, Doug and Jane Degner of Omaha, Neb., and Neal and Colleen Degner of St. Charles, Mo.; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Tom of Dyersville, Vicki and Tom Fischer of LeMars, Vicki and Doug Livermore of Sioux City, Barb and Mike Newhouse of South Sioux City, Neb., and Brenda and Rick Kray of LeMars; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Alfred in 1992 and Lois in 1995; and a brother, Robert Detloff in 1992.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church E.L.C.A. in LeMars with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, rural LeMars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Friday) with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

Pallbearers will be Dean Detloff, Nick Beeck, Bill Fischer, Paul Newhouse, Terry Lammers, and Chad Sitzmann. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Brady, Allyson, Nicholas and Kyle.
