OYENS, Iowa -- Donald "Donny" Evans, 61, of Oyens died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens, with the Revs. Richard Remmes, Randy Schon, Timothy Hogan, Terry Roder and Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a parish rosary at 3 p.m., a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and a Catholic Order of the Foresters rosary at 8 p.m., all at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen, Iowa.

Donald "Donny" Evans was born March 9, 1941, in Pipestone, Minn., the son of Myron and Margaret (Masuen) Evans. At the age of 2, he moved with his family to a farm near Oyens where he was raised. He received his primary education at St. Catherine's Catholic School in Oyens, and his secondary education at St. Mary's High School in Remsen, from which he graduated in 1960. He was then employed at Oyens Elevator, did construction work and was a self-employed truck driver.

He married Abby Rael on March 7, 1980, at Merrill, Iowa, and became the father of her two daughters, Bobbi and Brandi. They made their home in Oyens. They had their marriage blessed at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens on May 6, 1983. He was employed as a truck driver for Russell's Ready Mix for 14 years, retiring in November 1994 because of health reasons.

He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Oyens Columbus Club, Catholic Order of Foresters of Remsen and Fraternal Order of Eagles of Le Mars.

Survivors include his wife, Abby of Oyens; three daughters, Bobbi and her husband, Dee Jay Kellen and their children, Brandon, Brittany, Jacob and Hailey, all of Le Mars, Brandi and her husband, Gino DellaCava and their children, Devin and Maiah, all of Orlando, Fla., and Melissa Evans of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two sons, Marc J. of Oyens, and Byron M. of Ames, Iowa; a brother, William and his wife, Ruby of Oyens; and a sister, Carolyn and her husband, Paul Rael of Ossian, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Brian Rael; and his wife's parents, Feliciano and Soraida Rael.

Pallbearers will be Paul Rael Jr., Jason and Chad Rael, Curtis Evans, Andy Fiedler and Brad Mossman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dee Jay Kellen, Gina DellaCava, Brandon Kellen, Brittany Kellen, Jacob Kellen, Hailey Kellen, Devin DellaCava and Maiah DellaCava.

C.O.F. honorary pallbearers will be Richard Harpenau, David Heuertz, Donald Keffeler, Stephen Matgen, James Tentinger and Jerry Treinen.
