BEN L. ARENS

REMSEN, Iowa --- Ben Louis Arens, 16, of Remsen, died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee, Iowa, of injuries suffered in a four-wheeler accident near Marcus, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, with the Revs. Thomas J. Hart and Randy Schon officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a parish rosary at 3 p.m., a prayer service at 4 p.m. said by Christian Leadership Team and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Ben was born July 6, 1984, in LeMars, Iowa, the son of Keith and Mary (Heidesch) Arens. He was raised in the Remsen area and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Remsen. He attended Gehlen Catholic School in LeMars and was presently a sophomore at St. Mary’s High School in Remsen, where he was active in baseball, track and speech.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his parents of Remsen; a sister Sarah of Iowa City, Iowa; a brother, Mitchell at home; maternal grandmother, Audrey Heidesch of Remsen; and paternal grandmother, Darlene Arens of Remsen.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Loren Heidesch; and paternal grandfather, Donald Arens.

Pallbearers will be Tom Vaske, Neil Ruhland, Zach Thompson, Dale Galles, Tom Nelson and Mark Pierce.
