LE MARS, Iowa --- Lorne Alesch, 76, of LeMars died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in LeMars following a lengthy illness.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in LeMars with the Reverend Andrew Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Remsen, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Monday at Feuerstein Funeral Home with a prayer service at 8 p.m.
Mr. Alesch was born in January 3, 1924, in Marcus, Iowa, the son of Joseph Sr. and Mary (Galles) Alesch. He was raised in Marcus and attended Holy Name Parochial School. He graduated from Marcus High School.
He served in the US Army from 1944 to 1946 in World War II. He married Anna Slota on January 24, 1951, in Kingsley, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Marcus area for many years. They moved to Kalispell, Montana, in 1978 and three years later moved back to Marcus. He married Shirley (Perry) Slota February 8, 1987, in Elk Point, South Dakota.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Dave and Doug of Marcus; a daughter, Mary Beth and her husband, Dennis Horstman of Chicago; four sisters, Charlotte Rodesch, his twin sister, Lois and her husband, Earl Loutsch, both of Remsen, Helen and her husband, Ervin Herrig of Alton, Iowa, and Norma and her husband, Francis Neubert Mankato, Minnesota; three step sons, Dennis and Michael Slota, both of Remsen, and Calvin Slota of Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas; a stepdaughter, Geralyn Gengler of Remsen; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lorene Clarkson and Celestine Ballard; three brothers in law, Tony Rodesch, John Clarkson, Andy Ballard; a brother Larry in infancy.
