KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Colleen Emma Steele, 73, of Humble, Texas, formerly of Kingsley, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003.

Memorial graveside services will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Arrangements are under the direction of Calvary Hill Chapel in Humble.

Mrs. Steele was born Jan. 16, 1930, to Edward and Lois (Grubb) Cuthrell in Kingsley, where she spent her childhood. She graduated from Kingsley High School in 1947.

She married Roland "R.C." Steele in 1949. She was a school teacher in Iowa and Omaha. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Omaha and a master's degree from the University of Nebraska in Omaha. She retired in 1984 and the couple moved to Texas.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn (John) Lippert of Columbus, Neb., and Linda (Michael) Stribling of Humble, Texas; her mother, Lois Kowalski of South Sioux City; two sisters, Imogene (David) McQuire of Gold Canyon, Ariz., and Connie (John) Anderson of Omaha; a brother, Eldon (Nancy) Cuthrell of Early, Iowa; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997; her father; and a sister, Marvel Krogman.
