KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Lori L. Cooney, 48, of Lincoln, Neb., formerly of Kingsley, died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at Bryan LGH Medical Center West in Lincoln.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Congregational United Church of Christ in Kingsley. Burial will be in Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Lori was born June 29, 1954, in Sheldon, Iowa, the daughter of Lyle and Marvel (Franklin) Simons. She graduated from Kingsley-Pierson High School in 1972. After high school, she attended Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City for business education. She was working as a payroll specialist for Lincoln Action Agency in Lincoln.

She married Larry Cooney in South Sioux City on Jan. 1, 2000.

Her family was very important to her, especially her grandchildren. She was a very active individual who liked to camp, canoe, ride bikes, she rode in RAGBRAI 2, fishing, gardening, music, movies and travel.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Cooney of Lincoln; two sons, Jebb Stewart and his wife, Jana of Albuquerque, N.M., and Jacob Stewart of Sioux City; a daughter, Kylee Stewart of Sergeant Bluff; a stepson and his wife, Justin and Kim Campbell of Minot, N.D.; two grandchildren, Chance and Lucas; her parents, Lyle and Marvel Simons of Kingsley; two sisters and their husbands, Marsha and Don Spaulding of Des Moines, and Deb and John Brynes of Omaha; a brother, Phil Simons of Kingsley; nieces, nephews and three great-nieces of Fredericksburg, Va.
