LE MARS, Iowa -- Lee Crabtree, 47, of Le Mars went to heaven on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at his residence.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. today at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. Gary Bode officiating. Additional memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1101 So. Cornelia, in Sioux City, with the Rev. Gary Bode officiating. The body will be cremated and burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be after 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lee Ralph Crabtree was born April 12, 1955, in Pickstown, S.D., to Delbert and Alberta (Horst) Crabtree. He was raised in the Winner and Mission, S.D., areas. He graduated from high school in 1973. Following high school, he attended and graduated from South Dakota State University in 1978, with a bachelor's degree in dairy science.

He was united in marriage to Brenda Bunkers on May 11, 1979, in Brookings, S.D. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for four years. He began his 18-year career with Wells' Dairy in 1984, most recently with environmental quality control.

He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. He loved to spend time with his children, taking them hunting and fishing and just being "dad." He also was a volunteer coach with the Le Mars Wrestling Club. Quality family time and church activities were very important to him.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda of Le Mars; three children, Brenda Gail, Dale and Amanda, all at home; his parents, Delbert and Alberta Crabtree of Pierre, S.D.; his brothers and sisters, Charles Crabtree and his wife, Pam of Guthrie, Okla., Denis and her husband, Kevin Pryor of Rapid City, S.D., David Crabtree and his wife, Kelly of Arcadia, Calif., Glen Crabtree and his wife, Cindy of Lennox, S.D., Lyle Crabtree of Brookings, S.D., and Ross Crabtree and his wife, Joan of Pierre; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or Siouxland Regional Cancer Center in Sioux City.
