MERRILL, Iowa -- Elizabeth A. "Betty" Crawford, 78, of Merrill died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Merrill, with the Rev. Benjamin Meeks officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.
Betty was born Aug. 21, 1925, in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Oliver M. and Leona I. (Hansen) Wilson. She was raised in the Turin, Iowa and Onawa area.
She married Donald D. Crawford on May 3, 1945, in Denison, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple settled in the Whiting, Iowa area and then moved to Oto, Iowa, in 1954. They lived in Merrill since 1965. She worked at Zenith Corp. for 13 years.
She was a member of Merrill United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed horseback riding and camping in the mountains. She was a member of the Merrill Saddle Club for years.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Don; five daughters, Pat and her husband, Bob Corrie of Oto, Iowa, Donna and her husband, Mel Thompson of Belton, Mo., Barbara and her husband, Mark Krohn of Sioux City, Susan and her husband, Tom Crawford of Merrill and Lynn Crawford of Glenrock, Wyo.; seven grandchildren, Donald Poulson and his wife, Elizabeth, Stacey Poulson and his wife, Wendy, Michelle Olsen, Todd Poulson and his wife, Janelle, Daniel Krohn, John Woodard and his wife, Janyce and Donald Woodard; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Richard and Arlene Wilson of Sergeant Bluff; and two sisters, Marge Lorenzen of Washta, Iowa, and Argene and her husband, Larry Meyers of Correctionville, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gene; and an infant sister and brother, Louise and Robert.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
