MARCUS, Iowa --- Irene Anna Anderson, 84, of Marcus died Monday, May 13, 1996, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus, with the Reverend Glenn Keylon and the Reverend David Renfro officiating. Burial will be in the Marcus-Amherst Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at the Earnest and Roethler Funeral Chapel in Marcus.
Mrs. Anderson was born March 5, 1912, in rural Plymouth County, the daughter of Oscar and Amanda (Stolley) Digel. She was baptized May 5, 1912, and confirmed March 28, 1926, at Trinity Lutheran Church. She attended rural schools.
On July 30 1, 1935, she married Elmer Anderson in South Sioux City. The couple farm for many years south of Marcus and retired to Marcus in 1990. Mr. Anderson died December 24, 1994.
She had been a resident of the care center of the last two years.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, past member of the Ladies Aid of the church and the OAO Card Club.
Survivors include a son, Clarence and his wife, Koreen a Cherokee; a daughter, Arlene and her husband, Fred Hollenbeck, a Marcus; and six grandchildren, Denise Hop, Lori Talley, Kent Hollenbeck, and Craig, Cheri and Cathy Anderson.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Digel, and a grandson, Curtis Anderson.
