CARMEN DE RAAD

LE MARS, Iowa --- Carmen Clair De Raad, 83, of LeMars, died Monday, November 13, 1995, At Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in LeMars, following a 14 month illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in LeMars with the Rev. Larry Fett officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Mauer-Johnson funeral home, LeMars.

Mrs. De Raad was born February 19, 1912, in Sioux County, the daughter of Wilhelm and Wilhelmine (Jacob) Lehrman. She married Elmer De Raad September 5, 1932, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ireton. The couple farmed in the area for many years prior to moving to Seney. He died July 1, 1984, and she moved to LeMars in 1989.

Mrs. De Raad was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, LeMars.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ken (Shirley) Hettwer of LeMars and Gerry Steele of the Apple Valley, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Keith and Brian Hettwer, Connie Wollman and Laurie Baird; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Martha Cooper of LeMars and Eleanora Van Gelder of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Frank, Oscar, William, Lawrence and Harold; and three sisters, Amelia Bremer, Rose Gibson and Evelyn Schmidt.

Pallbearers will be Keith and Brian Hettwer, Bill Baird, Jim Lehrman, Jim Lubben and Paul Wollman.
