STRUBLE, Iowa -- Marie Branaugh, 81, of Struble passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at Marco Island, Fla., while visiting with family.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Le Mars, Iowa, with the Rev. Jason Larson officiating. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Monday in Yankton City Cemetery, Yankton, S.D. Visitation will be after noon today, with the family present 2 to 4 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

Lillian Marie Billings was born on Oct. 25, 1921, at Guthrie, Okla., the daughter of Robert Lee and Neva (Trumbo) Billings. She graduated from high school in Lenius, Mo. Following her education, Marie moved to Akron, Iowa.

She met Joseph Robert Branaugh and they were married on Oct. 31, 1939, at Slayton, Minn. They lived in California and Chicago, Ill., prior to returning to Iowa. The couple farmed in the Craig, Iowa, area for many years prior to moving to Le Mars and later Struble. Marie worked at Aalfs Manufacturing for more than 25 years and worked on a part-time basis at the Struble Post Office.

Marie was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Le Mars. She also volunteered her time at the Christian Needs Center and as a pollster during local elections. Marie enjoyed gardening and caring for her dogs and cats. She also enjoyed the neighbors and activities in the Struble community.

Marie will be lovingly remembered by a sister, Grace Arlene Branaugh and her husband, Walter of Stover, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe, on Jan. 4, 1979; a foster son, Ronald Pepper; a sister, Maxine McClaren; and two brothers, Ronald Lee Billings and Earnest Price Billings.
