MARCUS, Iowa -- Ellen Marie Dorr, 88, of Marcus died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marcus, with the Rev. Donald Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Earnest and Roethler Funeral Chapel in Marcus.

Mrs. Dorr, the former Ellen Erickson, was born May 16, 1914, in rural Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of George and Mary (Grauer) Erickson. She was baptized July 12, 1914, at Trinity Lutheran Church and confirmed there on March 24, 1929. She attended rural school and graduated from Marcus High School in 1933. She taught in rural schools in Plymouth and Cherokee counties.

She married Lewis Dorr on April 11, 1943, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The couple served as janitors at Trinity Lutheran Church for many years. Mr. Dorr died July 16, 1983.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years, and was a member of the neighborhood birthday club.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Helen Erickson and Leona Erickson, both of Marcus; a brother-in-law, Loren Dorr of Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clinton and Lowell; and a sister, Opal Langlo.
