Frances "Marion" Dougherty, 88, of Sioux City died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Don Cameron officiating. Private family graveside services will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Mrs. Dougherty was born Aug. 23, 1914, in rural Kingsley, Iowa, the daughter of G.W. and Frances I. (Foster) Bainbridge. She graduated from Morningside College in 1964.

She married W.W. "Pete" Wormley on June 10, 1932. She later married William J. "Doc" Dougherty on June 21, 1959, in Kingsley.

Her early years were spent in the Kingsley area. She taught country school in rural Kingsley and in the Kingsley and Sheldon, Iowa, public schools. She came to Sioux City in 1959, after her marriage to Mr. Dougherty. She was a substitute teacher for the Sioux City public schools. She worked as a secretary for Iowa Public Service Co.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was Grand Deputy for Rainbow Girls, past Worthy Matron of Isis Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star and a charter member of P.E.O. Chapter MK. She also was a member of the Sioux City Women's Club and a former member of the Bard of Avon. She enjoyed painting, pottery and spending her summers at Lake Okoboji.

Survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Lee and Burton Sparks of Sioux City, Lou and Larry Hansen of Lawton, Iowa, Barbara and Eugene Moser of Kingsley, and Roberta and Frank Faircloth of Ocala, Fla.; a stepdaughter and her husband, Kathleen and Robert Conroy of Mesa, Ariz.; a stepson and his wife, Michael and Jeannie Dougherty of Metaire, La.; two sisters, Barbara Burnham and Margaret "Peg" Kraft, both of Kingsley; 18 grandchildren, Mark Sparks, Perry Sparks, Becky Maselli, Lana Groepper, Rodney Seuntjens, David Seuntjens, Dan Moser, Pan Connell, Mike Sparks, Sandra Ocker, Jayne Vondrak, Jerry Sparks, Debra Greer, Kevin Sparks, LeAnn Kai, Tami Jorgensen, Rene Seuntjens and Karen Floss; 44 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; six great-stepgrandchildren; five great-great-stepgrandchildren; and a lifelong friend, Evelyn Payne Trigo of Carpenteria, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her grandparents who raised her, Frank and Ruth Foster; her parents; and two brothers, James and Malcom "Bud" Bainbridge.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
