Elizabeth Junge, 85, of Rock Valley, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, April 11, 2003, at Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen, Iowa.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Van Hamersveld of First Reformed Church of Rock Valley officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Junge was born Dec. 3, 1917, in Murray County, Minn., the daughter of John and Matha (Velgersdyk) Kersbergen. She was raised in Rock Valley.
She married William Junge on Feb. 23, 1936, in Alvord, Iowa. He died Nov. 11, 1984, in Rock Valley. She lived most of her married life in Sioux City. While in Sioux City, she had worked at Meadow Grove Inn, Johnson Biscuit and as a meat wrapper at both Piggly Wiggly and Bellas Hess. After William retired in 1979, the couple moved back to Rock Valley.
She was a member of First Reformed Church of Rock Valley.
Survivors include three sons, William Junge and his wife, Barbara of Arnolds Park, Iowa, Robert Junge of Las Vegas, Nev., and Gary Junge and his wife, Judy of Sioux City; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Junge of Sioux City; a sister, Elsie Goodman of Santee, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Kersbergen and Jenny Kersbergen, both of Rock Valley; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kenneth; and two daughters-in-law, Pat and Kitty Junge.
Pallbearers will be William Junge, Robert Junge, Gary Junge, Gary Junge Jr., David Junge and Vernon Junge.
