Audrey Irene Klave, 71, of Le Mars, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004 at her residence.
Audrey Irene Hallstead was born Nov. 14, 1932, in Wyoming County, Pa., the daughter of Ray L. and Jennie (Scheatzle) Hallstead. Audrey graduated from Falls-Overfield High School in Pennsylvania and later attended Westmar College in Le Mars. On Sept. 29, 1956, Audrey was united in marriage to Kenneth Klave in Le Mars.
Audrey was a real estate broker and operated Klave Real Estate in Le Mars for several years. In 1984, Audrey became the Plymouth County Zoning administrator, a position she held until her retirement in 1994.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Audrey enjoyed the many hours she volunteered at Floyd Valley Hospital in the gift shop and enjoyed giving tours of the hospital. She had also volunteered at Park Place Estates. Audrey and Ken enjoyed spending time at there lake home on East Lake Okoboji. She also enjoyed cross stitching and gardening.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth of Le Mars; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Laura Klave of Le Mars; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Dan Robinson of Sioux City and Terri and John Califano of South Bend, Ind.; four sisters, Doris Ferris of Montrose, Pa., Ruth and her husband, Elmer Roberts, of Montrose, Pa., Bernice Cox of Millersville, Pa., and Mildred Jodan of State College, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Katharine Klave, Erika Nemmers, Alanna Holtz, Ryan Klave, Katie Califano, John Califano, Sarah Robinson, and Kyle Robinson; a great-grandchild, Kaden Nemmers; and several nieces and nephews.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at St. John's Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Interment will be Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation was after 3 p.m. Sunday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. Visitation continued Monday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
Pallbearers will be Doug McDougall, Bill Foley, Chuck Van De Water, Kevin Nemmers, Ken Engel, and Ryan Klave. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
