MILDRED HELEN STOEL
ALCESTER, S.D. – Mildred Helen Stoel, 91, of Alcester died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Morningside Manor.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron, Iowa, with the Rev. Marilyn Winch officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Mrs. Stoel was born May 23, 1910, in Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of Milton and Lena (Harbst) Gabel. She married Paul Stoel on Dec. 24, 1930, at Adaville E.U.B. He died in 1986.
She graduated from Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa. She taught elementary education for 40 years, most of the time in the Akron area.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Book and Thimble Federated Club and P.E.O.
Survivors include two daughters, Joanne and her husband, Kervyn Heeren of Akron, and Evonne DeVinny of Rochester, Minn.; a sister, Evelyn Gabel of Alcester; seven grandchildren, Greg and David Heeren, Steve Michael and Jon DeVinny, Marcia Grimm and Karyn Olson; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by six sisters, Mabel Herman, Martha Philips, Lillian Gabel, Edith Burkett, Alice Willer, and Leone Knowles and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Greg and David Heeren, Steve, Michael and Jon DeVinny, Larry Grimm and Gerry Olson.
