DIXON, Neb. -- Duane Stanley Diediker, 80, of Dixon died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at his residence.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Martinsburg, Neb., with the Rev. Bruce Schut officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Martinsburg. Arrangements are under the direction of Schumacher-Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne, Neb.

Mr. Diediker was born March 7, 1922, in Leeds, Iowa, the son of George and Clara (Dahlman) Diediker. He attended rural school near Kingsley, Iowa, and Kingsley High School. He entered the U.S. Army in 1946.

He married Betty Hinz on Feb. 24, 1951, at The First Lutheran Church in Omaha. The couple operated a dairy farm in Dixon County until moving into Dixon in 1986.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Martinsburg and the American Legion in Laurel, Neb. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling and playing his harmonica.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; three daughters, Euni Diediker of Allen, Neb., Carol and her husband, Bob Maaske of Sioux City, and Ruth and her husband, Bruce Drake of Ohiowa, Neb.; two sons and their wives, Kenneth and Joyce Diediker of Dixon, and Kevin and Jo Diediker of Dakota City; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law and her husband, Pat and Terry Reuter of Lenexa, Kan.; a brother and his wife, Donald and Vera Diediker of Laurel; a sister-in-law, Sandie Maynard of Carmel, Ind.; a brother-in-law, the Rev. Alfred Hinz of Dixon; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Keith in 1985; a brother, Darrel Diediker; and a sister, Lorna Gries.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Eric, Chad and Steven Drake, Drew, Ryan, John and Nick Diediker, Robbie Maaske, Curtis Oswald, Nathan and Lucas Reuter. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Roeder, John Book, Mark Roeber, Rich Blohm, Duane White, Willis Schultz, Earl Gensler and Francis Mattes.
