REMSEN, Iowa -- Lewine Loesche, 85, of Remsen died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa, following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with the Rev. Thomas J. Hart officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday, with a rosary at 3 p.m. by the Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters of America, and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Mrs. Loesche was born April 11, 1916, in rural Remsen, the daughter of Anton and Anna (Scharff) Miller. She was raised and educated in the Remsen area. She married Urban Loesche on Jan. 20, 1942. They made their home near Remsen where they farmed. He died Oct. 27, 1966. She remained living on the farm until Aug. 25, 1997, when she entered Heartland Care Center.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include a sister and her husband, Fern and Ervin Staab of Remsen; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Miller of Remsen; and several nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Richard Miller in infancy and Glenn Miller.

Pallbearers will be John Bohnenkamp, Paul Pick, John, Larry, Scott and Steve Ruden.
