Kathryn Ruth Maxfield-Lines, 82, of Sioux City died Friday, May 24, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Nativity Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:30 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
Mrs. Maxfield-Lines was born Sept. 12, 1919, in Blencoe, Iowa, the daughter of James LeRoy and Myrtle Mae (Adams) Smith. She graduated from Onawa (Iowa) High School in 1937.
She married Dale L. Maxfield on Nov. 20, 1937. She later married Darrel "Bud" Lines on March 15, 1969, in Le Mars, Iowa. Mr. Lines died June 2, 1984.
She was a longtime Sioux City resident and was employed with Northwestern Bell Telephone Co., retiring after 20 years.
She was a member of Nativity Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed bowling and traveling. She will be remembered as "Grandma Kay did it her Way."
Survivors include her children, Cheryl and her husband, Donald Hamm of Sioux City, Jackie and her husband, Jack Mossberg of McKinney, Texas, Garry Maxfield and his fiancee, Bev Beargeon of Sergeant Bluff, Larry Maxfield of Sioux City, and Carol and her husband, Emmett Albenesius of rural Dakota City; a sister, Harriett Frandsen of Mapleton, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, Tod "Gig" Harling, Christy Robinson, Kevin and Kirk Mossberg, Karyn Blazi, Ken, Doug, Jeff and Rick Maxfield, Julee White, Lori Prince, Laura Lockert and Eric, Brian, Kevin and Scott Albenesius; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Helen Johnson; a grandson, James "Duce" Harling; and a son-in-law, James C. Harling.
Pallbearers will be Tod "Gig" Harling, Kevin and Kirk Mossberg, Tommi Jones, Ken, Doug, Rick and Jeff Maxfield, Eric, Brian, Kevin and Scott Albenesius, Mick Lockert and Brad Robinson.
