BATTLE CREEK, Iowa -- Irene K. Johnson, 92, of Battle Creek died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Willow Dale Wellness Village in Battle Creek.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, with the Rev. Rod Dunker officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Battle Creek. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Battle Creek.

Born Oct. 10, 1912, in Craig, Iowa, Irene Katherine Margaret Johnson was the daughter of William R. and Gesena (Onken) Johnson. She attended country school and later moved as a young adult with her family to Battle Creek.

Irene kept house for her parents and brother and also cared for her many nieces and nephews.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. Irene loved to play games and enjoyed sewing and making cloth dolls.

Survivors include two brothers, Richard Johnson and Virgil Johnson and his wife, Hazel, all of Battle Creek; two sisters, Velma Korneski of Battle Creek, and Shirley Ziss of Tucson, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Marvin Johnson; and two sisters, Myrtle Lucht and Bernice Johnson.
