LE MARS, Iowa -- Wanda E. Jeys, 88, of Le Mars passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars, with Mrs. Barbara Larson of Christian Science Society in Sioux City, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present after 6:30 p.m. and an Order of the Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
Wanda Elfreda Thompson was born Sept. 19, 1915, the daughter of Clarence C. and Artie Viola Thompson, on the family farm near Webster City, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Webster City High School.
She was united in marriage to Byron Dale Jeys on Jan. 4, 1936, in Webster City. The couple lived in Webster City until 1951, when they moved to Le Mars. Her husband, Byron, passed away in February 1996. She later moved to Park Place Estates and in March 2002 made her home at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center.
She enjoyed being active in the lives of her children. She had participated in P.T.A., Sunday School, Scouts, 4-H and Rainbow. In later years, she bowled with the Tuesday Coffee League and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years and the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She had been an Avon representative for years.
Survivors include four children, Janeen Morel of Des Moines, Byron LeRoy Jeys of Malawi, Africa, Rosemary and her husband, Larry Radloff of Le Mars and Virginia and her husband, Mark Pulver of Greenwood, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Christopher Radloff, Cory Radloff, Carrie Radloff, Joseph Morel, Nicolette Morel, Moriah Howard, Jennifer Smith and Jan Oden; 11 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Peyton and Madison Radloff, Cameron and Miranda Howard, Ryan and Owen Smith, Charlotte, Kelum, Mary and Jack Oden; and a sister, Dorothy Anderson of Stanhope, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron in February 1996; a daughter, Geraldine in May 1955; and two grandsons, George Byron Jeys in December 1977, and Caleb Pulver in February 2002.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
